Oikos is a Dutch organisation ‘stimulate processes of change’ in the Netherlands, there isn’t much information in English about them but from what I can gather they aim to involve people into creating sustainably solutions that reduce the cost of living with the aim of eradicating poverty. They do this by ‘pointing out what can be do’, lobbying, attending conferences with influential people in the Netherlands and passing them research, solutions etc therefore they must to appeal to these groups. And I think they have a website which does that - visually anyway I can’t read any of it bar a small paragraph in english but there are lots of nice guardian-style infographics but what I’m really interested in is the logo…not a big fan on it I think the colour of word ‘oikos’ doesn’t sit well at all with the red strapline and the logo. But the logo of the hand itself I think it quite interesting, how it’s made up of lots of different outlined hands each of which represents a different initiative and when they are all put together they form the main logo, the idea of a hand is also I could idea if they act by lobbying, meetings, conferences that sort of thing I guessing the hand signifies a hand up to speak could be wrong…probably am, but thats how I see it! But it’s definitely interesting to see how they’ve incorporated their different initiatives into one.
