I’ve kept mine clean, bold and included tools to add funny and relevant copy which can be changed depending on the person or situation (for example the business card for the pencil curious case). I was told whilst on placement that the most important thing it having people remember your name so I didn’t want ay imagery on my logo I just wanted to keep in clean and bold so it’s not confused, the other way people remember you is to have some personal interaction, your more likely to remember someone you’ve met at a party than someone you received a bill off. So, I’ve tried to make each card, letter head have a personal funny way or being serious, take my CV for example it’s all very serious but there was little ‘hard-drawn’ notes on it that I don’t take anything away from the seriousness of the content but rather they add another side to it, so you can take it serious and have a laugh and more of a personal interaction at the same time. I don’t want to write too much on here before it’s been sent out and spoil to story for anyone that might be reading this. But in terms of design, I think it’s come out quite well, it’s how I intended for it to look, the straw inside was really a last minute (what’ve I got, panic) addition but actually I think it works really well and adds to the theme. The one thing I really gutted about was the stamps, they’ve worked really well on the book and other items in the set but one the box the ink ran and it became almost unreadable. It took me ages, I was really lucky as well I picked up the materials earlier in the week and thought I’d got more than enough then as I came to measure it out the night before hand in I got worried there might not be enough fortunately though I made it, with very little to spare…I’d be the most economical joiner is I was one! The problem I’ve had as I’ll mention in another post is the stamp ink running, I think because it’s pine it’s quite porous., it also splits quite easily so was a proper fingers crossed job when I was screwing the top screws in - they went in fine. Externally looks pretty cool and I think the pages tell the story and show the growth quite nicely! I wished to go though I’d not spent longer trying to get a decent pencil effect so I didn’t have to write it myself….I hate my hand writing looks awful and doesn’t suit what I wanted it too look like. I tried for hours tracing over type with pencil then scanning it in, or trying to rub it onto the pages but nothing worked so when pushed came to shove had to do it myself. I thought I’d be saving myself some money rather than order 200 or whatever I thought I’d just print what I needed for this project and found a DIY printing set at staples….what a massive load of rubbish, didn’t print both sides like it said and I got ink everywhere! So had to make my own, I still had ink everywhere that ruined the first batch, then I printed the reverse upside down and now I’ve just took a chunk out of my finger with the gilutine and bled over the ones I’ve finally got right! It’s a scrapbook of sorts, it’s his biography and he breaks down his music etc but the design of it is really nice, there’s pictures in there that are made to look like there actually in the book, old photos and copy put into those photos, the layout is quite dynamic and every page is different.
